What to follow before and during admission.
Keep the patient’s identification, medical records and relevant financial or insurance papers ready so the admission process can be completed smoothly.
Admission Process
Report to Reception / Admission Desk
Inform the desk about the patient, treating doctor and the reason for admission. In emergency situations, follow the emergency team’s instructions first.
Patient Registration & Verification
Provide the patient’s basic details, contact information and available identity documents.
Submit Medical Records
Share the admission advice, previous prescriptions, investigation reports and other records relevant to the current treatment.
Complete Billing / Insurance Formalities
Complete the required deposit, payment or insurance/TPA formalities as applicable.
Room / Bed Allocation
After completion of the required formalities, follow the nursing team’s instructions for bed allocation, medication and patient-care routines.
Documents to Carry
- Government photo ID of the patient (Aadhaar / Voter ID / Passport, as applicable)
- Doctor’s admission advice / referral note, if available
- Previous prescriptions, investigation reports and relevant medical records
- Health insurance / TPA card and policy details, where applicable
- Patient and attendant contact details
- Any authorization / scheme documents, if treatment is covered under a specific scheme
Current Medicines
Bring a list of medicines currently taken by the patient and inform the treating team.
Personal Essentials
Carry only necessary personal items and avoid bringing jewellery or other valuables.
Responsible Attendant
Keep one responsible attendant available for communication and administrative formalities.
Complete discharge formalities without missing important information.
Discharge normally includes clinical clearance, final billing, medicine instructions, follow-up advice and collection of relevant documents.
Discharge Process
Doctor’s Discharge Decision
Discharge begins after the treating doctor considers the patient fit for discharge or provides appropriate transfer / further-care advice.
Final Billing & Settlement
Complete the final bill, insurance/TPA formalities and other applicable financial requirements.
Receive Discharge Summary
Review the discharge summary, prescribed medicines, diet instructions, warning signs and follow-up advice before leaving.
Collect Reports & Documents
Collect available investigation reports, prescriptions, bills and other documents that are to be handed over at discharge.
Confirm Follow-up
Note the follow-up date, specialist appointment or further investigation advised by the doctor.
Keep These Ready
- Patient / attendant identification for verification
- Admission / registration papers or patient ID details
- Payment / billing documents required for final settlement
- Insurance / TPA approval documents, where applicable
- Any pending reports or documents requested by the treating team
Discharge Summary
Keep the discharge summary safely for future treatment, claims and follow-up consultations.
Medication Plan
Understand what medicines are to be continued, changed or stopped after discharge.
Next Follow-up
Record the next appointment date and bring previous records to the follow-up consultation.

Visiting rules are designed to protect patient privacy, reduce infection risk and maintain a calm care environment for every patient.
Visitor Timing
- Use only the permitted visiting hours unless special permission is granted.
- Keep visits short so the patient can rest and recover comfortably.
- Avoid crowding; only the permitted number of visitors should enter at a time.
- Children, elderly visitors and persons with infection symptoms should avoid unnecessary visits.
- Maintain silence in patient-care areas and keep mobile phones on silent mode.
- Do not bring outside medicines, food or equipment without approval from the treating team.
- Follow infection-control instructions, including hand hygiene and masks whenever advised.
- Respect the privacy of all patients and do not take photographs or videos without permission.
Hand Hygiene
Clean your hands before and after visiting a patient and follow posted infection-control instructions.
Maintain Silence
Keep conversations low and avoid unnecessary noise in corridors, wards and patient-care areas.
Respect Privacy
Respect patient confidentiality and do not enter restricted clinical areas without permission.
